Salt Lake City & County Building
The city & county building is a true architectural landmark, and its park-like setting is a beautiful backdrop for weddings and other private parties, as well as meetings and after-hours get-togethers for business functions. One of the grandest municipal buildings in the United States, it opened in 1892 and is said to be modeled after London's City Hall. The impressive structure mirrors the Romanesque Revival style, with detailed depictions of Utah history carved above doorways, and the faces of pioneers sculpted atop the building's columns. The outside venue is completely shaded with some of Salt Lake’s oldest trees. There is outdoor event space for up to 3,000, and the indoor venue space is on three levels, with each level seating approximately 100 guests or reception-style service for 500.

Salt Lake’s ultra-modern, six-story library contains a lot more than a half-million books! An attractive public plaza, shops and services in a ground-level “Library Square” area, and a variety of meeting and conference spaces are part of this package. We have a couple of favorite spots here: the Rooftop Terrace, with fabulous Wasatch Mountain and city skyline views, accommodates from 100 to 250 people; and the lobby space (the “Urban Room”), with its glass ceiling, can be rented for after-hours events: weddings, dances, company parties, and lots more.

It is best for indoor groups of 150 or less, but “the Hollow” can handle huge outdoor groups and, depending on the season, offers tubing, cross-country skiing, hiking, and trail riding.

The facility has undergone some dramatic renovations since 2005, including opening the Chase Mill for special event rentals. Built in the 1850s by transplanted New Yorker Isaac Chase, the mill was used to make flour and its output saved many Salt Lake area families during a famine in 1856-57.
